Factores explicativos del éxito y fracaso académico en las universidades españolas, en los años de cambio hacia la convergencia europea.
In a crucial situation for the European Higher Education, these authors developed a research that aimed to determine which the factors that affect the academic performance of undergraduate students in Spain are. By means of a survey to a sample of students of seven Spanish Colleges of Education, it is detected that the factors that influence the most on the students’ success or failure are: the employment situation, the dedication and motivation toward studies; the scholarships; the conditions of entrance to studies and the previous academic readiness; as well as the academic performance that is achieved during the first years in the University. In this paper, we analyse and interpret the results obtained and make proposals in for improving support actions and services for students.
